For years, sustainability reporting in the United Arab Emirates was a voluntary exercise, a reputational badge worn by forward-thinking organizations. That era has ended. Federal Decree-Law No. 11 of 2024 on the Reduction of Climate Change Effects has transformed climate accountability from a choice into a binding legal obligation. With the compliance deadline of 30 May 2026 now in effect, businesses across all seven emirates, including those operating in free zones, must measure, report, and verify their greenhouse gas emissions.
